MADISON, WI (WSAU) — A federal grand jury has indicted a Mexican citizen who was arrested in Clark County after law enforcement discovered that he had illegally entered the United States.
Jose Luis Bautista Cruz was arrested by the Colby-Abbotsford Police Department and Immigrations and Customs Enforcement earlier this month. Officials say he had previously been removed from the US with instructions to not return.
The circumstances surrounding his removal were not disclosed by the US District Court for Western Wisconsin, which announced the indictment on Wednesday. No further court action against Bautista Cruz was immediately scheduled.
