ANTIGO, WI (WSAU) — An Antigo man is accused of distributing methamphetamine after an investigation into a shooting at his home.
According to the Attorney General’s office, Brady Mevis was found with a gunshot wound to his shoulder back in August. While treating the 24-year-old, first responders found signs of drug activity in his home including containers of THC and meth. A search of his cell phone also turned up text messages and videos which indicated he may be involved in the distribution of illegal drugs.
Further investigation revealed that Mevis was on the receiving end of several large drug shipments that he and others would distribute. Evidence shows some of those shipments came after the August shooting incident.
Charges against him include possession with intent to deliver both meth and THC and maintaining a drug trafficking place. All charges carry repeat modifiers. If found guilty he could face almost 70 years in prison.
“Drug dealing puts communities in danger,” said Attorney General Josh Kaul. “The Wisconsin Department of Justice is proud to collaborate with other agencies to fight the distribution of narcotics.”
Mevis is scheduled for an initial appearance in Langlade County Court on January 8th.
