MADISON, WI (WSAU) — A Janesville man was given the mandatory life sentence after he was found guilty of killing an unidentified woman while they were staying at a Wisconsin Dells hotel.
According to the Department of Justice Jeremy Lee Mondy was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole for one count of intentional homicide.
Charges stem from the death of a woman at a resort on River Road in Wisconsin Dells. Officers were called out for a report of a disturbance and found Mondy, who said he was ok. The woman was found dead. Investigators determined that Mondy was trying to destroy evidence linking him to the shooting when officers arrived.
It’s also believed that he had plans to flee to the Chicago area before police arrived.
The 37-year-old was also given shorter, concurrent sentences for charges of being a felon in possession of a firearm and bail jumping. He will be eligible to apply for parole in 2068. However, it should be noted eligibility to apply for parole does not guarantee that an inmate will be released to extended supervision.
