WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — A Central Wisconsin woman accused of providing drugs to a man who overdosed and died will go to trial next March.
Lyndy Lucas will have a one-day trial on March 5th for charges of first-degree reckless homicide by delivery of drugs and possession of narcotics. Both counts carry repeat modifiers.
Investigators say Lucas sold drugs to a Kronenwetter man back in 2021. First responders later found the man dead in his home with evidence of drug use near his body, including a spoon and a substance that tested positive for narcotics.
The Central Wisconsin Narcotics Task Force was able to track the drugs back to Lucas, who is a known dealer in the area and was on probation from a previous case at the time of her arrest. Court records show those cases have been re-opened and will be heard alongside the reckless homicide charge.
Previous charges against her include threatening a judge, recklessly endangering safety, spitting at a public safety worker or prosecutor, and various drug-related offenses.
The 42-year-old faces up to 40 years in prison on the homicide charge alone if found guilty. She returns to court on February 20th for a status conference.
