Gloriann Doyle
WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — The former Town of Berger Clerk has entered a guilty plea to six of the 11 counts against her for stealing public funds while she served.
Gloriann Doyle entered the plea Thursday morning as part of a deal that dismissed five counts of felony forgery.
Town officials discovered irregularities in their records last winter, prompting an investigation. They later discovered Doyle had written a handful of checks to herself between July of 2024 and last January.
The 65-year-old said she had fallen behind on her bills, including her mortgage, and was using the money to catch up.

A presentence investigation has been ordered, and a sentencing date will be scheduled on Wednesday, August 13th. She faces up to 12.5 years in prison on the most serious charge, and more than 35 years in prison on all six charges.
She was removed as the Town Clerk shortly after the irregularities came to light, though not in time to have her name removed from the April 2025 ballot. Interim Clerk Amy Veenendaal ran a successful write-in campaign and managed to unseat her.
