I have 7 year old twins and it has become apparent to me that they have absolutely no concept of time. They think I’m WAY older than I am.
One afternoon we were in the car and Zoey was talking about watching the Labyrinth. She was telling us the whole movie. My husband stopped her and said, “Yeah Zoey, we’ve seen it.” Then my older daughter (9 year old Mia) said, “You have?” I said, “Yes, that movie came out when we were kids.” Zoey then turned to Mia and said, “And get this Mia, it is even in color!” Apparently my kids think I’m old enough to have had black and white TV!
But wait…it gets better!
The twins are in 2nd grade so they are learning about pioneers in school. Kenzie came home with a covered wagon made of paper and marched into the kitchen so proud, “Mom, we made covered wagons today in school. Does it look like the one you rode in when you were a pioneer?” EXCUSE ME? Not even the oldest person we know, my 104 year old grandma, is old enough to have ridden in a covered wagon!
I know they didn’t intentionally insult me, but wow! They think I’m old.
We asked on the show this morning “how old do your kids think you are?” And I was happy to hear from listeners that have experienced the same thing with their kids.
