MINOCQUA, WI (WSAU-WXPR) – Wednesday is opening day for Minocqua Winter Park.
The park got 10 inches of snow with the last snow storm.
Mark Stuber is the general manager. He says the ski trails are bit thin but looking beautiful. “As far as skiing goes, it’s going to be great. We’re really going to hit the ground running, especially compared to last year. The trails will be good. If you’re concerned about your equipment, you might want to bring B skis, but I don’t think anyone’s really going to hit anything.”
The park also offers sledding and tubing hills.
There are snowshoe and fat-tiring biking trails, but they haven’t been groomed yet. “The groomer that we will be using on our snowshoe trails, we’ll also be using on our fat bike trails this year, which is going to be a big improvement for fat biking here at the park. That being said, the fat biking will probably come in the next week or so as we await that piece of machinery.”
The ice skating pond will likely not be open this year.
