“Those that have followed his career even casually over the course of nearly 45 years can recognize the fact that Steve Forbert is among America’s greatest singer/songwriters.” –

From the moment his debut LP “Alive On Arrival” came across my desk at WWSP 90FM back in 1978 I have been a big fan of the man from Meridian Mississippi. Over the span of the last four decades he has written and recorded boatloads of great tunes. If you only know him from his radio hit “Romeo's Tune”…dig deeper. With his quirky voice and beautiful acoustic playing he grabs you and immerses you in his stories and imagery. I've been lucky enough to see him live a couple of times and when he makes his way back to Wisconsin again I highly recommend you check him out. Even though he's one of the great American song writers…he has done cover songs in the past including an LP featuring the music of another Meridian native, Jimmie Rodgers. But for the first time he's done an album of cover songs that have spoke to him over the years. It's an eclectic mix ranging from The Grateful Dead to Elton John to Danny'O Keefe to Leonard Cohen & Gordon Lightfoot. The LP is called “Early Mornin Rain” and came out last week at bluerosemusic.com
The lost jazz classic today is a funky fusion trip with Japanese guitarist Ryo Kawasaki called “Juice. From 1976
Covers Of The Day (in 1974 jazz pianist, composer and arranger Gil Evans put together a crack band including Lew Soloff, Howard Johnson, David Sanborn and Hannibal Marvin Peterson to tackle the music of Jimi Hendrix. On guitar was Ryo Kawasaki who did the above “Juice” LP. Hendrix approved and was working on a similar project when he died. What do you think?)

“There's only an hour left until Trump's retaliatory firing of the IC Inspector General is final.
When you wake up, the deed will be done. Thanks to crooked Republican Senators who don't care about government integrity, Trump will have gotten away with this latest corruption.

“Trump’s purge of Inspectors General continues, as he removes the one who reported critical shortages of protective gear in hospitals. Trump will not allow the truth to be told, and that will cost more American lives. After 60,000 deaths, the silence of Republicans is shameful.”Adam Schiff
