It's always hard to see a young person die. As I get older checking the obits is a daily thing, basically to see if anyone I know has moved on. many times it's not surprising if the deaths are people in the 80's or 90's…but when the someone is 22…that always makes you pause. Former Wausau East hockey player Logan Brummond was identified yesterday by Marathon County Sheriff's Dept as the person who was hit by a semi and killed while on the side of the road on I-39 after leaving his vehicle for an unknown reason. The death. of course, has left his friends and family filled with grief. Any death does that…but when the death comes at the age of 22…with his whole adult life ahead of him…the tragedy seems magnified. I did'nt know Brummond personally but I do remember him from my broadcasts of East hockey from a few years ago. The East hockey family has been sending out remembrances on social media and dedicated their win last night to his memory. It serves to remind us that you never know when the last time you may see or talk with someone will be. Remember that.
The Bucks got a nice win over the Chicago Bulls last night, 106-101 in Milwaukee. Double-Doubles for Giannis and Greg Monroe. The game shows what many thought the Bucks would be able to do on a more regular basis this year…beat a good team with a balanced attack. One of their owners said yesterday he thought they could still make a push to the playoffs. We will see if last nights win serves as a springboard. They are right back in action tonight in Washington.
In High School sports last night both the Wausau West hockey team and the Stevens Point boys basketball team continued their winning ways…the Warrios topped Northland Pines and Spash rolled over Merrill. The East boys hoops team played a dominant defensive game and beat Wausau West and the West girls overcame a slow start to roll over Wausau East. The West girls have a ton of young talent that will only get better. Jason Teske has a squad that will be a force the next few years. The Marshfield girls basketball team beat DC Everest in a battle of Valley unbeatens. You can check out the entire high school scoreboard elsewhere on thsi web-site.
