WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — After this month’s election and subsequent recount, Marathon County’s District 11 Supervisor seat will still be empty for the next few days.
The Marathon County Clerk and Corporation Counsel have both confirmed that the losing candidate, Randy DeBroux, has neither confirmed nor denied his intentions for challenging the results of the recount in Circuit Court.
According to Corporation Counsel Michael Puerner DeBroux has five business days to decide if he will challenge the vote totals and recount. Those five days are up next Monday, April 25th. Until he notifies the county of his decision, Alyson Leahy can’t be seated as the District 11 Supervisor.
Leahy defeated DeBroux by three votes during the April 5th election. A recount of the vote totals on Monday produced the same outcome.
Marathon County Clerk Kim Trueblood confirmed that there were no irregularities found during the recount.
So far DeBroux has not announced his intentions. WSAU News has reached out to him for comment and will update this story with any additional information.
