WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — Wausau Police say the man suspected of robbing WoodTrust Bank on Bridge Street in Wausau has been arrested in Illinois.
Tommy Pittman was arrested in Freeport Thursday morning and will now be extradited to Wausau to face charges of robbery of a financial institution for the May 20th incident. The timing of that extradition remains unclear.
Officers say they received multiple tips relating to the robbery, including several about Pittman. They also credit the Freeport Police Department with tracking him down.
The 55-year-old is a Wausau resident but officers say he’s also lived in Illinois.
Johnson Carter, the man previously named a person of interest in the case, has been cleared in relation to the robbery. Though he did turn himself in on outstanding warrants from both the county and state last week.
