WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) โ While candidates for State Superintendent of DPI and Supreme Court sweat out close races Tuesday night, several local officials will be relaxed as the results come in because theyโre running unopposed.
That includes a pair of Mayors and some City Council and School Board elections.
In Schofield, longtime Mayor Kregg Hoehn is unopposed for another term. Four alder seats are also unopposed on Tuesdayโs ballot: Michael Steele (Ward One), Jeffrey Panish (Ward Two), Scott Dunst (Ward Three), and Kari Caroll (Ward Four).
The City of Abbotsford has one name on the ballot for Mayor, James Weix.
Village President and Trustee seats in Rib Mountain, Rothschild, Spencer, and Stratford are also unopposed- with just one name on the ballot for President and an equal number of candidates to open seats for the Trustee posts.
The Village President seat is unopposed in Marathon City, meaning Kurt Handrick Jr. is in line for another term. Four people are running for three seats on the Village Board: Kevin R. Sorenson, Alex Cabrera, Mark Ahrens, and Andrew Goergen.
Westonโs ballot features contested races for Village President (Mark Maloney and James Pinsonneault) and Trustee (Maloney, Pinsonneault, Barb Ermaling, and Hooshang Zeyghami).
Several School Board races are also lightly contested. Both D.C. Everest and Wausau have an equal number of open seats and candidates on Tuesdayโs ballot. The same goes for smaller districts like Rosholt, Edgar, Colby, and Auburndale.
Contested races are on the ballot in Marshfield, Antigo, Abbotsford, Stratford, and Medford. All seats in those districts are elected at-large, without regard for the board memberโs address. In Mosinee, which selects five members by their address with four at-large positions, the Area 5 seat is contested while Area 3 and one at-large seat are uncontested.
