One thing about me, I am ALWAYS trying to stay moving. Movement to me comes in many different ways. I could be at the gym lifting weights, walking on the treadmill or even doing yoga and stretching out my body. I am in no way a professional or a skilled athlete who is training for something, but I still want to make sure my body keeps it’s mobility for as long as it possibly can, and you should want that too!
Working with the experts at Health in Motion can hopefully show you healthy, smart and safe ways to get YOUR body moving too! I met with Allison Mork, a Physical Therapist at Health in Motion in Merrill. Alli and I talked about myths when it comes to sitting all day long while you’re at the office and how that’s NOT what you should be doing. Although you may be moving your body at other points during the day like at the gym or at home running around chasing kids, but you should still get up and moving through the day. While at the office, stand up occasionally while sitting at your desk. You should be getting your body moving and your blood flowing during the day. Get your body used to the feeling of moving during the day, no matter where you are (home/work).
While I was at Health in Motion in Merrill, Alli and I talked about some stretch you can do during the day to get your body moving. Alli also demonstrated different stretches that can be done now around the house and office and why office ergonomics are important. Check out WIFC on Facebook to see Alli demonstrate these stretches and hear about how to get your body moving during the day, no matter the setting. The experts at Health in Motion in Merrill would be happy to help you out if you stop by.
