One thing about me, I am ALWAYS trying to stay moving. Movement to me comes in many different ways. I could be at the gym lifting weights, walking on the treadmill or even doing yoga and stretching out my body. I am in no way a professional or a skilled athlete who is training for something, but I still want to make sure my body keeps it’s mobility for as long as it possibly can, and you should want that too!
Working with the experts at Health in Motion can hopefully show you healthy, smart and safe ways to get YOUR body moving too! I met with Cara Ackman, a Physical Therapist Assistant at Health in Motion in Wausau. Cara and I talked about myths when it comes to getting your body prepared to shovel this winter and ways to have your body be in shape and healthy as well. Cara demonstrated some easy stretches that you can check out on our WIFC Facebook page! These stretches get your body moving and help combat stiffness after or before shoveling. Most people think that they don’t need to stretch to get their body in “shoveling shape”, but we are using so many different muscles when shoveling and Cara has healthy and safe tips on how to get that task done, but with ease.
