STEVENS POINT, WI (WSAU) — The Portage County Sheriff’s Office and Stevens Point Police Department are teaming up for a summer-long traffic safety task force.
According to a news release from the Sheriff’s Office, the two departments will increase traffic enforcement efforts over the next few months with an emphasis on moving violations, speeding, aggressive driving, seat belt violations, impaired driving, and traffic control violations.
The task force aims to decrease traffic crashes related to these violations, thereby decreasing the number of traffic fatalities and serious injuries on Portage County roadways.
Officers add, “remember, buckle up, put down the phone, slow down, and arrive safely.”
