I got news for ya…Thanksgiving is just the first giant foodie day..Christmas will bring on more..so what are you doing with all your leftovers?? A tip about creating a plan..it’s all about containers and storage. With the rest of the turkey..it’s soup time for us. Turkey broth and turkey soup is a great make ahead. Save those containers from jelly, mayo, Chinese food takeout..and get your turkey soup in there…freezes nicely and will get you through winter. Stuffing? Divide it up into single servings and wrap up and put in the freezer..pull one or two out next time you have chicken for dinner. Mash potatoes..I have friends that don’t cook and they buy mash pototates! This seems insane to me..so very easy to zip lock bag some mashed potatoes and store in a zip lock bag and you’re set for next time. Any veg’ dish? Like Green Bean Casserole is terrific if you make it from scratch but sucks when you freeze..dump it and make it from scratch again when you want veg. One other note on turkey…they go on sale periodically and there’s no better time to test out fun ways to cook then in the OFF SEASON…meaning not thanksgiving!! If you’ve never deep fried a turkey or cooked one on a grill but always wanted to…try it when the pressure of feeding your whole family for the biggest foodie day is not on the line. Deep Fry or Grill one in the spring..the summer..and get it right then..tweak it then…so you’ll be ready to amaze your family next thanksgiving!
Leftover Mania..how to handle all that extra thanksgiving food!!
