MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) – Wisconsin voters will soon get a chance to see all seven Democratic candidates running for governor, as a debate date has been set.
According to WISN 12, journalists Gerron Jordan and Matt Smith will moderate the debate on Tuesday, July 28, from 7 to 8 p.m. in the Weasler Auditorium on the Marquette University campus, which will be broadcast live on affiliate stations across the state, including WAOW 9 News.
Candidates such as Mandela Barnes, Francesca Hong, David Crowley, Missy Hughes, Sara Rodriguez, Kelda Roys, and Joel Brennan will be featured, with recent polling indicating that many voters are undecided about who will oppose Republican nominee Tom Tiffany in November.
According to a March Patriot Polling survey of over 800 potential voters, Hong is the current frontrunner for the Democratic primary on August 11, with 27% support, followed by Barnes (18%) and not sure or other (43%).
Another poll of nearly 1,200 likely voters released in March by the League of Workers provided some insight into the head-to-head matchups, with Tiffany defeating Hong 43% to 40% in a hypothetical matchup, Lt. Governor Rodriguez defeating Tiffany 44% to 41%, and Barnes defeating Tiffany 43% to 41%.
