MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) – The Milwaukee Brewers will reportedly be without one of their top starting pitchers for the remainder of the season.
According to Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Quinn Priester has decided to undergo season-ending first rib removal surgery and expects to miss eight to ten months before being able to return to the mound.
Priester, 25, was previously on the 15-day injured list due to a wrist issue related to thoracic outlet syndrome and struggled during his rehab starts with AAA-Nashville, going 0-5 with a 15.75 ERA in eight starts with the Sounds.
Milwaukee’s starting rotation has been one of the best in the National League so far this season, thanks to Cy Young-caliber performances from ace Jacob Misiorowski and Kyle Harrison, while young starters such as Brandon Sproat and Robert Gasser have pitched well enough to keep the team competitive while they await the return of Brandon Woodruff, whom manager Pat Murphy expects to return to the big leagues “soon.”
