MADISON, WI (WSAU) – The University of Wisconsin is reportedly zeroing in on hiring a Wisconsin native as its next athletic director.
According to ESPN’s Pete Thamel, the university is preparing an offer to hire Shawn Eichorst, Texas’ Deputy Athletic Director and Chief Operating Officer, as the school’s next athletic director, following Chris McIntosh’s departure in April to become the Big Ten Conference’s next Deputy Commissioner for Strategy.
Eichorst, who is from Lone Rock, Wisconsin, graduated from Marquette Law School in 1995. He has held senior administrative positions at Wisconsin (Deputy AD), Miami (AD), and Nebraska (AD, 2012-2017).
Wisconsin also interviewed Dallas Stars President/CEO Brad Alberts for the position, but it is expected that the university will reach an agreement with Eichorst in the near future.
