STRATFORD, WI (WSAU-WAOW) – Wisconsin Farm Technology Days returned to central Wisconsin, bringing together farmers, families and the latest innovations shaping the future of agriculture.
This year’s event is being hosted at Redetzke’s No Joke Dairy, a fifth-generation family farm in Stratford. The farm has been in the family since 1911.
For the Redetzke family, opening their farm is about more than showing off their operation. It’s about highlighting the generations of work that help define Wisconsin agriculture.
“I feel like we really exemplified family owned and operated dairy farms. You know this is really the heart of Wisconsin,” a Redetzke family member said. “So, we’re really excited to showcase our farm and our family’s hard work that’s kept it alive this long.”
For fellow farmers, the event is also a chance to explore new tools and technology that could make their operations more efficient. Organizers say the biggest goal is getting new technology in agriculture out for people in the industry to see and for the general public to come out and learn about the cool things happening in agriculture.
Adam Meddaugh of American Drones showcased several models at the event, including a Revolution AR-40 with a 40-gallon tank, a Revolution I-19 with a 19-gallon tank and a DJI T-100 with a 26-gallon tank. Meddaugh says as the cost of traditional farm equipment continues to rise, drones are giving farmers another way to do more.
“These can actually do wet or dry fertilizer so it can spray or spread,” Meddaugh said. “On the T-100 it can actually has a lift system in there. So, you can actually lift up to 220 pounds of any kind of material or totes or anything that you want.”
Even if you’re not in agriculture, organizers say the event offers plenty to see, including good food, food trucks, horse demonstrations and different cattle in the beef tent.
Farm Tech Days runs for three days, starting Tuesday, July 14 and going through Thursday, July 16.
