Kyle Elkins
STEVENS POINT, WI (WSAU) — A former employee at the Plover Pizza Hut will serve seven years in prison for sexual assault charges in Portage County.
Kyle Elkins was sentenced on Thursday after pleading no contest to second-degree sexual assault by use of force and sexual assault of a child by someone who works with children. In exchange for the plea, five additional felony counts were dismissed but read into the record, including strangulation or suffocation and three charges for third-degree sexual assault.
Elkins is accused of forcing himself on the girl multiple times. In one case, pulling a gun and threatening to fire her if she didn’t engage. The victim was 17 years old at the time of the incident.
The 30-year-old will also spend five years on extended supervision. He was given credit for just over 16 months already served in jail, awaiting trial. His sentence also includes court fees, treatment, and a full no contact order with the victim. He will also be required to maintain his address on the state sex offender registry.
He had faced up to 40 years in prison on the most serious charge for second-degree sexual assault. The lesser charge for sexual assault by someone who works with children could have added six years to that sentence.
