WISCONSIN RAPIDS, WI (WSAU) — The 47-year-old Wisconsin Rapids man accused of a 7th OWI is being held on a $75,000 cash bond, according to court records.
Daniel Erdman appeared in a Wood County courtroom on Thursday, where a judge ruled that the case against him could proceed to a preliminary hearing.
Erdman is accused of leading officers on a high-speed chase from Grand Rapids into Wisconsin Rapids. Officers said he sped off as they attempted to stop him for speeding on Monday evening. The case ended when officers deployed a PIT maneuver, disabling his vehicle. He then tried to flee on foot before officers arrested him.
During the chase, a woman also exited the vehicle.
Charges against him include fleeing an officer and OWI, which carry a combined maximum of 18.5 years in the state prison system.
No further court action was immediately scheduled.
