STEVENS POINT, WI (WSAU-WAOW) – A Plover woman accused of repeatedly poisoning her ex-husband by putting eye drops into his drinks is now formally charged.
Court records show Jessica Meis, 37, made an adjourned initial appearance Monday afternoon. She was charged with aggravated battery intending great bodily harm and two counts of placing foreign objects in edibles.
According to the criminal complaint, the victim reported to police on July 20 that he thought Meis had been poisoning him by putting something into his drinks, so the man had hidden a camera in his kitchen and had video of Meis putting something in his drink.
Meis initially said she put saline in his drinks to help him hydrate, according to the complaint, but later admitted it was to make him sick, so that she could take care of him.
Meis remains in jail on a $100,000 cash bond. She’s scheduled to have a preliminary hearing on Sept. 2.
