How bout this for summer job? Harley-Davidson is offering eight student internships this summer. The eight college students will ride Harleys around the country posting their exploits to social media. And they get to keep the bikes when the summer is over! You don't need to know how to ride (they will teach you) …you must be at least 18 years old and pursuing a career in marketing, public relations or social media. Its a paid 12 week internship. Applications are now being accepted and are due by May 11th. Selected students will be sent to various places in the US and overseas to chronicle various events. They will be required to post videos, pictures and stories on various media platforms like Twitter, Instagram, SnapChat and Facebook. Your application will need to include examples of your social media experience and your ability to create content. The idea is to promote motorcyle riding in the millenial population who hasnt embraced it like their baby-boomer grandparents. According to a report in the Journal-Sentinel, the companys 10 year strategy is to train 2 million new U.S riders, grow international business to 50% of sales and launch 100 new “high impact” motorcyles. Bucks coach Joe Prunty (who probably will not be back next season) somehow as found some combinations that work the last two games. It certainly helps that Jabari Parker has decided to work on the defensive end. And Thon Maker gives the Bucks some energy and three point ability from the center spot. Dellavadova and Brogdon are back making life hard for the Celtic guards. And Giannis & Middeleton are doing Giannis and Middleton stuff. I read somewhere earlier this season that Middleton cannot be the second best player on a “championship ” level team. He seems to want to answer that criticism with an emphatic no. Game 4 is Tuesday in Boston.
The Bucks announced last week that Aaron Rodgers would become a minority owner of the team. It's really interesting how a California kid, a superstar that is comfortable hob-knobbing in the celebrity world, would embrace Wisconsin like he has. The Packers should heed well how popular he is when contemplating how to handle this next contract.
The Brewers took care of business last week, winning six straight and taking 6 out of 7 from two bad teams. They seem to be a loose bunch and after showing some shoddy defense earlier in the season, seem to have cleaned it up over the last few games. They face a couple of more very winnable games Tuesday and Wednesday in KC before hitting Wrigley Field for the first time this season.
The four game sweep of the Marlins was the first four game sweep at home since 2008. The bullpen has been lights out. Jeremy Jeffress entered Sunday's game with the bases loaded and nobody out and got out of it with no runs scoring. He has now inherited 10 runners this season and only 1 has scored. Brewers relievers have now gone 21.2 consecutive innings without allowing an earned run. They have allowed only 6 hits and four walks during that stretch with 28 stikeouts. Did you see the at-bat for Jesus Aguilar on Saturday night? in the 9th inning of a tie game he quickly went down 0-2…he then fouled off 7 pitches and ran the count full before hitting pitch #13 for a game winning home run. Here is the entire at-bat as the tension mounts. Incredible.
The Badgers extended the contracts of Mark Johnson, Tony Granato, Jon Tsipis and Greg Gard last week. I read some teeth gnashing from fans on the Gard extension. They feel the program slipping under his leadership. Was last year an injury-plagued anomaly or is there trouble brewing?
