The payroll has been trimmed to $90 million from $125 million. Gone are Eric Thames, Yasmani Grandal, Mike Moustakas, Chase Anderson and Zach Davies. The Reds, Cubs and Cardinals are formidable. But yet, the Brewers brass thinks they will be competitive. And I agree. It will be a platoon year at some positions. They will try and replace the numbers of Thames and Moustakas with some combination of Justin Smoak, Ryon Healy, Eric Sogard and Jedd Gyorko. Expect to see more Ryan Braun at first base too as Craig Counsell will have to find at-bats for newly aquired outfielder Avasail Garcia. Omar Narvaez steps in at catcher where the drop off from Grandal will not be as big as you might think. And, of course, alot of questions on the mound where new faces Brett Anderson, Eric Lauer, Josh Lindblom and David Phelps will try and fill spots in a rotation led by Brandon Woodruff. A couple of things to watch…the return of Corey Knebel in the bullpen…and a former Pointer, pitcher JP Feyereisen trying to make the team. Many think the Brewers have taken a step back. But with Christian Yelich, Lorenzo Cain, Keston Hiura, Narveaz and Braun to anchor the batting order and Josh Hader in the pen…the Brewers should be in the mix for the Division and a playoff spot again.
Jazz keyboardist Lyle Mays died Monday in Los Angeles at the age of 66. The Wisconsin native had a long collaboration with guitarist Pat Metheny. He also played behind many other artists like Joni Mitchell, and Rickie Lee Jones. I know most of this may be too mellow for some but that very introspective feel makes it like catnip for others. He and Metheny did win a Grammy in 1998 for “Best rock instrumental” for a song called “The Roots of Coincidence”
and that rock song that won the Grammy

Quotes Of The Day
..”Friends, I cannot overstate how dangerous this is. Under William Barr's stewardship, the Justice Department has become nothing more than a political tool for Trump to wield against his enemies and withdraw against his friends. This is how dictatorships are built.”-Robert Reich
“We’ve had many terrible attorneys general in recent decades, but Bill Barr represents a unique awfulness. He wholly endorses the surveillance state, promotes executive supremacy, repeatedly undermines the Rule of Law, and clearly views his role as that of a political operative.”-Justin Amash
“It’s not about health care. It’s not about immigration. It’s not about the climate. It’s about a lawless individual in the White House. It’s about HIM. It’s about beating HIM. It’s about removing HIM from that White House. 2020 is about Trump. Period.”-Joe Walsh
Just to recap:

“Growing up we always thought it would be a Russian invasion or bomb drop. Who knew America would be destroyed by one confused brain, two thumbs and a Twitter account.

“She is not a child.
She is not naive.
She is not an innocent bystander.
She is working at Treasury to protect Donald Trump’s tax returns and his loans at Deutsche Bank. I think, it’s time to start investigating AG William Barr’s daughter Mary Katherine Barr Daly,”-Andrea Junker
“Memo to all career DOJ employees This is not what you signed up for. The four prosecutors who bailed on the Stone case have shown the way. Report all instances of improper political influence and other misdeeds to the DOJ IG, who is required to protect your identity.”-Michael Bromwich
“Susan Collins said that Donald Trump had learned a lesson. Yeah, he sure has learned a lesson. He has learned that he can do anything he wants,”-Elizabeth Warren
“Vindmans, Stone are just the beginning. Trump knows he owns Republicans in Congress, except one. He knows Barr is a willing accomplice & he could shoot someone on 5th Ave & Fox News & his base wouldn’t blink. Trump doesn’t just think he’s above The Law. He thinks he is The Law.”-Ana Cardenas-Navarro
“D’s in Congress are fighting a criminal gutter rat, they need to get in the gutter with him a bit to stop this madness. Get aggressive with subpoenas and enforcing them aggressively. Playing nice & trying to do things normally cant work when dealing w a corrupt immoral grifter.”-Spiro Agnew's Ghost
“If this happened in a small country in South America—or Africa, or Asia—we'd chalk it up to banana republic justice and a pervasive culture of corruption. Now it's happening here.”-Richard Stengel
