At the beginning of this season I picked the Packers to get to the Super Bowl. I thought there schedule was relatively easy and didn't see too many games in which they would be challenged. Well…injuries and poor play lead to the team being dead in the water at 4-6 and the playoffs seemed to be a fairytale. The Tennesse game seemd to be the nadir and I was convinced that they were cooked. Aaron Rodgers looked bad…the defense looked bad…the receivers looked bad…not much looked good…and it seemed that the season was done. But Rodgers is one of those guys that knows that “its never over until its over”. He made the infamous 'I think we can run the table” pledge and here we are. The team almost let one get away yesterday, blowing an 18 point lead…but it was Rodgers again who came through with an amazing throw on 3rd and long to Jared Cook who tiptoed the sideline for the grab and a chacne to kick the game winning field goal. Free agency is always hit or miss…mostly miss in the NFL…but Ted Thompson's signing of Jared Cook has turned into a brilliant decision. Cook hasn't always lived up to his potential…but he hasnt blown the chance of playing with Rodgers and has stepped up big time. But the hero list was long on Sunday and now the Packers are one step away from another Super Bowl appearance. After where they were mid-season…this may be the most unlikely story of this NFL season.
Can we also put to rest this ridiculous campaign against Buck & Aikman. Packer fans you sound like whiners everytime you bring this up. Joe Buck and Troy Aikman are not anti-Packer. They are national announcers who are not going to salivate over your team or any other team like the local announcers will. If you must…watch the game with the radio transmission or no sound at all. It's amazing how enjoyable it is to watch with no sound…try it sometime.
The Bucks are 20-19 heading into an MLK Day matinee vs Joel Embiid and the 76ers this afternoon at the Bardley Center.
Congrats to the Wisconsin womens hockey team who set an NCAA attendance record on Saturday as over 15,000 fans filled the Kohl Center in the annual “Fill The Bowl” game to battle hunger in the Madison area. The Badgers stayed hot asw well with a 2-0 shutout of St. Cloud State.
Hey, did you see John Hiatt and Lyle Lovett are going to be playing an acoustic show at North Star Casino in Bowler on Friday February 24th. Should be an excellent time. I also see the Outlaws will bring their twin guitar Southern rock to the Q & Z expo Center on Feb 3rd. Too bad I have a game that night…that should a good one as well!
