Greetings! I havent written anything in this space for a couple of months as I filled in as the main morning host on WSAU. Aas we have hired a new guy (Ben Armstrong) I will have more time to devote to this space and hope to check in every day. Also some business…we have a blog sponsor now. Koala Center for Sleep Disorders in Wausau and Plover are on board and I am treating my sleep apnea with the help of Dr. Barr at Koala. I'm wearing a high teach mouthpiece that has alleviated my snoring and sleep apnea. I highly recommend you get tested if you have loud snoring…you probably have sleep apnea which can be deadly! the website is centralwisconsinsleep.com.
I had the remote working overtime yesterday flipping from the Badgers to the Bucks to the Daytona 500. The Bucks almost let another one slip away but they held off Phoenix. They have won 4 of 5 as they make a playoff push…they play in Clevbeland tonight. Alas the Badgers are not as good as would have thought. Their terrible free throw shooting…and bad shooting in general has caught up with them as they stumble to the end of the season. Can they rebound in the Big Ten Tournament and the NCAA's? I'm doubtful
Watched the Daytona 500 yesterday and it seemed for awhile that there would not be enough cars left to crown a winner. Kurt Busch didnt lead a lap except the last one and took the checkered flag for the first time in the Great American Race.
Caught the Lyle Lovett/John Hiatt show at North Star Casino on Friday night. Whats not to like…two veteran troubadours with their guitars and a bagful of great songs. I had never been to a show at the new room at North Star. It's very nice…great sound and comfortable chairs. And they seem to be booking a very eclectic roster of artists. Still to come this spring…Wayne Newton, Billy Bob Thornton & his band, and Foreigner!
One TV show to recommend since we last spoke…Taboo on FX. Set in England in 1813 and starring Tom Hardy. It's gritty, dirty and filled with excellentr performances. Maybe not for everyone but I'm digging it. Looking forward to the return of The Americans, Bosch & Ripper Street in the next few weeks.
Congrats to the Wausau West boys hockey team and the CW Storm girls hockey team as they head to Madison for the State Tournament this week. West plays Thursday night vs West Salem…the Storm will play Friday night vs Sun Prairie.
