WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — A number of primary elections will be held on Tuesday across the region.
In Wausau voters in Alder Districts 1 and 4 will go to the polls to narrow a list of City Council candidates. The District 1 primary consists of three candidates: Carol Lukens, John Kroll, and William Bublitz.
In District 4 it’s a four-person race with Doug Diny, Jesse Kearns, Vada A Perkins, and Kathryne Tracey all looking for a spot on the Council.
The top two vote-getters in each race will advance to the April ballot.
Both incumbents in those districts are stepping down from the Council (Pat Peckham and Tom Neal).
Marshfield will hold a primary for their vacant Mayor’s position with three candidates vying for the spot. Former Mayor Bob McManus headlines that field alongside former Alder Ken Bargender and Lois TeStrake, a former President of Main Street Marshfield.
Stevens Point does have a city-wide primary for school board with nine candidates (three incumbents, six newcomers) looking for four seats. The candidate with the fewest number of votes Tuesday will be eliminated, the eight remaining will go to the April ballot. Candidates are as follows:

Additionally, voters in District 1 will cut one name from their list of candidates for City Council. Incumbent Marc Christianson is up against Gracia Day and Stephen Klein.
Meanwhile voters in the Northland Pines School District will take to the polls to decide a $4.6 million operating referendum, which District leaders say will allow them to keep up their current levels of service and building maintenance while lowering property taxes of the next three years as the middle and high school buildings are paid off.
Polls on Tuesday will be open from 7 AM to 8 PM. As always voters are asked to bring an approved photo ID with them to the polls. Those with questions about their polling place can contact their local clerk or visit the MyVote WI website.
