WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — A former Wausau teacher has been found guilty of one count of possession of child pornography as part of a plea deal.
Kristofor Edwards entered a guilty plea to one count, in exchange for having more than a dozen others dismissed on Wednesday. A judge then sentenced him to three years in the state prison system and another three years of extended supervision.
He must also complete all treatment or counseling as deemed necessary and pay a fine. Additionally, he’s been instructed to have no contact with minors other than those in his family and to not own or access any internet-connected devices unless it’s for work purposes.
Charges against Edwards came from a tip provided by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children after suspected images including child porn were linked to Edwards through an IP address.
At the time he was employed at the Maine Elementary, though officials with the Wausau School District and Wausau Police say there was no evidence that the images showed any students.
He was free on bond following his arrest and was given credit for one day already served in jail.
