WOODFORD RESERVE DOUBLE OAKED, JOSEPH MAGNUS, REDWOOD EMPIRE & EAGLE PARK
Here’s my thoughts on each bottle:
JOSEPH MAGNUS: Can you say ORANGE PEELS & SMOOOOOOOOOTH!? This is a marriage of straight bourbon whiskey aged in white oak barrels and finished in Oloroso sherry, Pedro Ximénez sherry, and cognac casks. It’s like a long FLAVORFUL road trip! IF you can find this bottle on the shelf, it’s ONE you HAVE to HAVE! It actually WON in a blind taste test that I gave to my friend Keith!
WOODFORD RESERVE DOUBLE OAKED: No JOKE! This bottle is one of my favorites! It’s honestly in my TOP 5 of ALL TIME! I prefer this bourbon neat! Uniquely matured in separate, charred oak barrels – the second barrel deeply toasted before a light charring – extracts additional soft, sweet oak character.
REDWOOD EMPIRE: Redwood has a terrific lineup of bourbon, whiskey & rye! Did you know, this juice comes all the way from California!? Their bourbon named “Pipe Dream” (don’t get any ideas) is named for the 14th tallest tree on the planet! It’s a bourbon that’s made from barrels aged between 4-12 years! Now, that’s some experience! It has a nicely roasted pecan flavor, with vanilla & woody notes!
EAGLE PARK: Finally, it’s Eagle Park! And, it’s from Wisconsin! A 4 year, high rye Bourbon sourced from Midwest Grain Products in Indiana. Hand selected and blended by Eagle Park Distilling Company. Surprisingly smooth and sweet considering its high-rye mash bill. It was the perfect bourbon to celebrate the 4th of July with! AMERICA!
