MERRILL, WI (WSAU) — A Lincoln County man is said to have offered a Sheriff’s Deputy money to let him go during a stop last week.
According to the Sheriff’s Office Angel Gabriel Pintor Olvera was pulled over for failing to yield the right-of-way at a roundabout. The 20-year-old admitted to the officer that he did not have a valid driver’s license.
Officers then say Pintor Olvera asked if he could be let off the hook for the violation, which the officer denied. He then offered a cash bribe, which the officer also refused.
Pintor Olvera received a misdemeanor citation for operating without a valid license three or more times in three years. Court proceedings for the incident have not been scheduled.
Records show he’s also scheduled for a plea hearing for another count of operating a vehicle without a valid license 3 or more times in three years. That incident occurred last March, and Pintor Olvera will return to court for a plea hearing on January 22nd. It’s unclear if the new charge will impact that case.
Operating a vehicle without a valid license three or more times in three years is a Class U misdemeanor in Wisconsin. Punishments for those offenses vary but can include jail time and fines.
