TOMAHAWK, WI (WSAU) — The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office has released new details regarding the death of a driver near Tomahawk.
Officers had just initiated a traffic stop for an equipment violation on a vehicle driven by 36-year-old Wade Johnson of Minocqua. After he pulled over, Johnson took off.
His vehicle crashed about a quarter of a mile later. During that time, he sustained a self-inflicted injury and died.
Officers did not provide life-saving measures at the scene, given the extent of his injuries.
No officers were injured or fired their weapons during the incident.
