RIB MOUNTAIN, WI (WSAU) — What’s next for Rib Mountain now that national names like Chick-fil-A, Chipotle, and Jersey Mike’s have officially opened in the village?
Administrator Gaylene Rhoden says the next thing many people are watching along Rib Mountain Drive is the construction of a new Raising Cane’s. “[We got to see] the teardown over the winter months, and now we’re kind of watching it. You can see progress; every time I go down Rib Mountain Drive, it seems there is more being done.”
She says developers have not disclosed a grand opening date yet, but she wouldn’t be surprised if the chicken fingers and coleslaw are served before the end of the year.
She’s also glad to see local restaurants and diners popping up: EJ’s Diner, El Tequila, and Zaika Gourmet India, to name a few. She says a mix of national names and local favorites is never a bad thing for the community. “It’s diversity, diversifying your economy so you don’t get reliant on some things, that’s a little too much. And obviously it makes sense to have the more national brands near the [US 51/WI 29] interchange and the others along [County Road] NN or R.”
As for the rest of Rib Mountain Drive, she says no major plans are bubbling under the surface at this time, but there is land available for development. “Who knows what that future may bring,” she said.
