WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — Local clerks are encouraging absentee voters to return their ballots as early as possible before the August 11th partisan primary, especially if you plan to return them by mail.
“We continue to see ballots take up to two weeks to be returned to the municipality once they are mailed by the voter,” said County Clerk Kim Trueblood. “I encourage voters to complete their absentee ballot, and if they choose to return it by mail, to do so with plenty of time before Election Day.”
Trueblood recommends mailing your completed ballot by Tuesday, July 28th, to ensure it arrives on time.
Her statement comes in cooperation with municipal clerks across the county, who are tasked with running elections. She adds that there are other ways to return your completed ballots, including in person at your local clerk’s office or through a municipal dropbox, if one is available. More information, including a list of Marathon County municipalities with dropboxes, can be found here.
Voters should note that unless you have a disability that prevents you from doing so, you must return your own ballot.
If you are returning your completed absentee ballot on election day, it will need to be dropped off at your polling place or a central count location.
