MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) – The Milwaukee Brewers and a division rival have agreed to a multi-player deal.
According to The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal, the Brewers and St. Louis Cardinals have finalized a trade that would send veteran starting pitcher Dustin May and reliever Jo Jo Romero to Milwaukee. In return, the Brewers are sending young outfielder prospects Alexander Frias and Josiah Ragsdale to the Cardinals.
Romero, 29, is currently on the 15-Day IL due to an abdominal injury but is anticipated to return to the majors in the near future. May 28, is 5-7 this season with a 4.38 ERA.
Frias is the Brewers’ 11th-ranked prospect overall, while Ragsdale is ranked 13th.
Milwaukee made another move on Monday, acquiring 31-year-old relief pitcher Antonio Senzatela from the Colorado Rockies in exchange for prospects Mark Manfredi (LHP) and Juan Martinez (SS). Senzatela has a 3.61 ERA and three recorded saves on the season.
