GREEN BAY, WI (WSAU) – Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs will appear in Brown County court earlier than originally scheduled.
Jacobs’ hearing has been rescheduled from November 17 to September 10, according to court documents; however, it is unlikely that he will show up in person.
Jacobs and his girlfriend were involved in an incident at a Hobart house on May 23 that resulted in misdemeanor charges of violence and criminal property damage. Since the allegations are misdemeanors, if an authorization to appear is issued, the law permits Jacobs’ lawyer to appear in court without Jacobs being present.
The criminal complaint states that when officers got to a residence with an open 911 line, they heard cursing and yelling before the connection was cut off. The victim reported to the police that she and Jacobs had a disagreement over Jacobs’ conversations with other women. According to the complaint, a police officer felt a lump on the back of the victim’s head and noticed redness on her cheeks and neck. Police were informed by the victim that she was in pain.
On Sunday, Jacobs was added to the NFL Commissioner’s Exempt List. While the league considers his case and any outstanding criminal charges, this administrative action forbids him from practicing or going to games.
