WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) – Republican gubernatorial candidate Tom Tiffany is explaining why his campaign declined to participate in this cycle’s Wisconsin Broadcasters Association debate.
In an interview with “The Dan O’Donnell Show” on Tuesday, Tiffany said, “I think one debate will be sufficient to cover the issues in this race,” which led the WBA to cancel the debate scheduled for October 9th.
In the interview, Tiffany went on to say that he declined the debate in part because conservative organizations and politicians have long held the opinion that the Wisconsin Broadcasters Association debate is skewed in favor of Democratic candidates owing to the manner in which questions and fact-checks are presented.
Both candidates have agreed to take part in a debate on October 21, which will take place in Eckstein Hall at Marquette University Law School from 7 to 8 p.m., according to information released last week by WISN 12. Both campaigns have yet to respond to other suggested debates, including one that WTMJ-TV has proposed to broadcast on October 8.
