WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — Alders in Wausau will consider an ordinance calling for all FLOCK safety cameras to be covered and police to cease using FLOCK data.
The one-page resolution comes from the Public Health and Safety Committee, which voted to recommend canceling the final two years of the city’s contract with the embattled public safety organization.
The city’s Finance Committee followed suit later in the week, removing a $50,000 payment from the city’s 2027 budget.
If approved, Wausau would join a growing list of Wisconsin municipalities and Counties separating themselves from FLOCK. Stevens Point Mayor Mike Wiza recently directed city staff to cover local FLOCK cameras, while Clark County canceled its contract last month.
Other Wisconsin communities that have severed ties with FLOCK include Racine, Waukesha, Menasha, and Ashland. Sheriff’s Departments in Dane, Racine, Winnebago, and Fond du Lac Counties have also ended their relationships with the company.
Tuesday’s meeting begins at 6:30 at Wausau City Hall. Public Comment is part of the agenda.
