WAUSAU, WI (WSAU-WAOW) – The Milwaukee Brewers’ World Series title is leading to big business for sports memorabilia and apparel retailers.
Management at Coulee Cards & Gaming in Wausau tells WAOW TV they’ve seen an uptick in foot traffic this month, with fans flocking to their store looking for a piece of history.
“We have diehard Brewers fans that have been with us since the beginning. But now, we are seeing a huge uptick of customers coming in looking for the gear, they’re looking for their favorite player card,” said Store Manager Liane Olson. “People that used to collect, they haven’t bought a baseball card in maybe 20 years, they’re like: ‘I need to get some Brewers gear,’” Olson said.
For fans, owning a piece from the Brewers’ historic run is more than meaningful.
“They want a piece of history, they want something tangible that they can hold onto that reminds them of this moment right here,” Olson said.
