Adam Borchardt
WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — An Antigo man accused of causing a fatal crash near Wausau one year ago is now scheduled for a plea hearing.
Adam Borchardt is accused of causing the head-on collision last September near State Highway 52 and Forest Lawn Road in the Town of Wausau, killing Shirley and Arlen Erickson. Toxicology reports indicated that the 37-year-old had drugs in his system, including amphetamines.
He faces two counts of vehicular homicide involving a controlled substance, along with four other charges, including two for knowingly operating with a revoked license. He previously pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Two other people were injured in the crash; one was hospitalized, and another was treated at the scene. Borchardt was not seriously hurt. The crash closed a portion of State Highway 52 for six hours while crews processed the scene and cleared the roadway.
Borchardt faces up to 30 years in prison on the two most serious counts. The plea hearing is scheduled for December 9th at 3:15 PM.
