ANTIGO, WI (WSAU-WAOW) – New details were released on Thursday after the suspect in an Antigo homicide, Derek Goplin, was taken into custody.
According to police, Goplin was arrested in Racine County Wednesday night and is now in the Racine County Jail.
Just after 7 pm Wednesday a person saw Goplin at a boat landing in Waterford and took him to a hospital in Burlington. There, officials identified him based on his vehicle.
Police have been looking for Goplin since Monday morning after they found his mother, 63-year old Susan Reese, stabbed to death in her Antigo home.
At a news conference on Thursday, Antigo Police said Reese’s death is being felt by the entire community. “This is definitely a sad and tragic event that has happened to our community and really had far reaches throughout our community. Everyone feels the pain behind this,” said Captain Dan Duley of the Antigo Police Department.
Police say they have no reason to think anyone else is involved in Reese’s death. The investigation is ongoing.
