WISCONSIN RAPIDS, WI (WSAU) — Voters in the Wisconsin Rapids school district will consider a $3.8 million operating referendum during the April election.
Leaders finalized the language on Tuesday evening, which calls for the extra funds to be allocated for “technology, curriculum, and security updates, and to maintain academic and educational programs.”
The move comes as a 2021 voter-approved operating referendum is set to expire next year. Officials say the extra funding, combined with budget reductions, will stabilize the district’s budget through 2031.
“Without continued local support, the District will face a growing budget shortfall that could mean difficult cuts to staff, programs, and services our students rely on every day,” they said.
It’s unclear what impact the $3.8 million would have on the school’s portion of the property tax bill.
