Fatal Fire
SHAWANO, WI (WSAU-WAOW) – One person died following a house fire in Shawano on Wednesday night.
The Shawano Police Department and Shawano Area Fire Department are investigating the fatal fire that happened around 6:53pm in the 200 block of East Center Street. Emergency crews responded to reports of a structure fire and found smoke coming from the home.
Firefighters worked to put out the flames and search the residence. During the search, crews found one person inside the home.
The Shawano Ambulance Service and ThedaCare – Shawano attempted lifesaving efforts, but the person was pronounced dead at the hospital. The victim’s identity hasn’t been released.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Shawano Police Department, Shawano Area Fire Department and the Shawano County Coroner’s Office.
The investigation is ongoing.
